The NSW Department of Education is supporting experienced professionals to become teachers, to help meet the needs of NSW public schools now and into the future.
The program supports those with significant prior experience, including academics, high-performing professionals and subject-matter experts to complete a Master of Teaching (Secondary) or a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) and enter a career in secondary teaching.
Participants will be given the opportunity to be employed at a school part-time as a paraprofessional whilst completing their teaching qualification.
Participants will be provided with:
- a $30,000 one-off training allowance;
- a guaranteed permanent teaching position in a NSW public school on completion of study;
- a $30,000 study completion bonus phased over the first three years of employment in a NSW public school and
- support and mentoring to ensure that they are able to meet the demands of teaching
Based on prior qualifications and experience, two entry pathways are available:
Master of Teaching (Secondary) entry
(Mathematics, Science, Technological and Applied Studies (TAS) teaching)
This pathway may be right for you if:
- You are an academic or industry professional with at least 3 years industry experience in the last 10 years
- You have completed a recognised undergraduate Bachelor degree

- You are an experienced industry professional or trades person with industry experience
- You have completed a trade apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
