The Storm and Flood Industry Recovery program will improve community connectivity, linking schools with local primary industries and the many rewarding agricultural careers that are available in flood affected LGAs across NSW. By developing locally focused teaching resources and careers programs, this project will deliver a stronger foundation to develop interest in local careers in the primary industries, building local resilience to improve recovery from flood disasters.

CAREER Q&A SESSIONS – DIGITAL LEARNING KITS
This series of Career Q&A videos forms part of a suite of resources promoting careers within agriculture. Three candidates are interviewed and asked the same series of questions about their careers in agriculture. The videos can either be watched individually, depending on the topic, or all three of the videos can be watched together. The following videos discuss some of the industry’s issues as well as demonstrating the variety of roles, both as producers and off farm roles within the cotton industry.
Traditional Farming Q & A Videos
This theme refers to those career roles engaged with broadacre farming, with a focus on cotton production systems.
Vertical Farming Q & A Videos
Vertical farming is a relatively new concept in agriculture where plants are cultivated in controlled environments.
Unusual Farming Q & A Videos
This theme explores some of the lesser-known food and fibre careers and in so doing encourages students to consider new ideas about food and fibre production.
Peri-urban Farming Q & A Videos
Peri-urban farming is generally defined as agricultural production and related processes like distribution, marketing, recycling and consulting which produce food and fibre outputs adjoining city regions.
Robotic Farming Q & A Videos
The use of robotics provides a new and novel approach to food and fibre production. These exciting and innovative production systems showcase the inventiveness of engineers and entrepreneurs challenging thoughts around production.
Water Farming Q & A Videos
This suite of resources explores careers in the Aquaculture or Water Farming industries. The three videos consider the production of food fibre within water systems as opposed to on land. The videos provide insights from a mussel farmer, oyster farmer and aquaculture nutritionist. Each video discusses improvements in production and sustainability and provides an overview of each career. The videos are a useful accompaniment for lessons on production, sustainability and careers within aquaculture.
Education Farming Q & A Videos
This series of videos explores employment in education and how these roles promote careers in food and fibre. Scott Graham, a teacher, discusses his career teaching agricultural science to secondary school students. He offers insight into how to promote food fibre opportunities to metropolitan students, encouraging them to consider careers in the industry. Fraser Border, the founder of integratedSTEM and also a robotics engineer, discusses the use of technology in his career and how technology can increase engagement for school students to solve real world problems in food and fibre industries.
Protein Farming Q & A Videos
In the last twenty years there has been an increasing interest in the use of insects and other invertebrates as a source of protein. Hermetia illucens Black Soldier Fly has proven to be very successful in processing waste material, with the larval stages converting it into protein.
