Interest in agriculture high
Australian universities are reporting a huge increase in the interest to study agriculture at university this year.
As offers were sent to prospective students on Thursday 18 January, the University of Melbourne said offers to study a Bachelor of Agriculture have doubled since last year.
Professor Rick Roush, Dean of School of Land and Environment at the University of Melbourne said the university sent out 95 offers this year versus 46 in 2012 and 35 in 2011.
Dr Peter Sale, Associate Professor in the Faculty of Science, Technology and Engineering at Latrobe University said offers to study agriculture had risen by 30%.
