In December 2025, the Primary Industries Education Foundation Australia (PIEFA), in association with the Ag Institute Australia (AIA) South Australia Division, selected Emily Steer as the 2026 PIEFA Student Compendium Intern.
Emily grew up in Lameroo in South Australia’s Murray Mallee region on a family Angus cattle property, which sparked her early passion for livestock and agriculture. She is now a third-year Animal Science student at The University of Adelaide and will be contributing to PIEFA’s work while sharing her insights on her internship and student experiences.
Students Gain Northern Industry Insight at ICMJ Conference

Emily Steer reflects on her experience attending the Intercollegiate Meat Judging (ICMJ) Northern Conference in Rockhampton. Alongside fellow Adelaide University students, Emily gained firsthand insight into Australia’s northern beef industry, developed practical skills, and connected with industry professionals from across the red meat supply chain.
