Dairy Scientist

Conduct experiments in breeding or in embryo manipulation, investigate the nutritional values of different feeds and the environmental conditions necessary to improve productivity and quality of animal produce.


  • Collect and analyse data and samples of produce, feed, and other factors affecting production
  • Advise dairy farmers on techniques for improving herd productivity
  • Advise farmers on issues such as livestock disease, control of pests, animal husbandry and feeding programs
  • Study environmental factors affecting dairy production, pasture growth and animal breeding
  • Study the effects of pests and diseases on animal production
  • Develop procedures and techniques for solving agricultural problems and improving the efficiency of production

For this Position, the skills required to perform this role would have be developed through a combination of experience in a related role (unless the position is a graduate position) as well as a Tertiary Qualification in Science, Humanities or Commerce.

Research positions usually require a masters or doctorate degree in the chosen field.
