Quarantine Officer

Control movement of agricultural and horticultural produce, plants and animals into or within Australia, and identify and control biosecurity risks.

Tasks

  • Respond to import/export requests about agricultural product movements into and within Australia
  • Maintain Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) quarantine regulations and standards
  • Inspect all forms of transport and ensure that appropriate documentation is held for the movement of agricultural products
  • Inspect cargo and look for any prohibited goods

Qualifications

A Quarantine Officer requires a degree in horticulture, agriculture, forestry or biological sciences, available at most universities across Australia.
