Regional Development Australia Barossa pushes for agriculture school for Two Wells

A NEW school in Two Wells with a strong focus on farm trade is needed to stimulate development and growth in the region, Regional Development Australia Barossa says.

RDA Barossa chief executive Anne Moroney told the Northern Messenger that a school, whether it be private or public, is “critical”.

“Obviously there is a need that justifies a school in the town,” Ms Moroney said.

“We feel it is a priority to get that in place it’s critical.”

The State Government’s 30 Year Plan for Greater Adelaide has identified Two Wells as suitable for future housing growth.

Ms Moroney said an expected 2500-3000 new homes and a population of up to 10,000 people made a school an ideal investment opportunity for the area.

“It would strengthen the community at Two Wells,” she said.

“It would inspire new investment to support the school and families and would be an important catalyst for growth.”

Ms Moroney said the agriculture focus of the school would also be a drawcard.

“There’s nowhere really providing that capacity in this area,” she said.

“It’s better if you don’t have to go to Urrbrae to do these kind of studies.

“It might be that a trade training school might be in partnership with one of the technical colleges or TAFEs.”
