In Australia, it’s estimated households throw out nearly half the food bought – in a year that amounts to around three million tonnes of garbage worth more than five billion dollars.
There are some efforts to try to change our wasteful way. In NSW, the Environmental Protection Agency is running a program called Love Food Hate Waste.
