Industry insights: Agriculture, forestry and fishing industry

In May 2022, myfuture hosted a free Industry Insights webinar with PIEFA to support teachers who are delivering career education to students. Careers in agriculture, food and fibre cover many industries and roles, and are not solely about production on a farm. Agriculture leads the way with the use of technology and many advancements along the whole supply chain. Many jobs in agriculture are beyond the farm gate, and there are many diverse roles along the way to the point where the food product hits our plate, becomes the clothes we wear, or the timber that constructs our home. PIEFA Online Careers Q&A

PIEFA’s first online careers Q&A was held at the end of 2020, which featured three young people (Sharna, John and Elle) undertaking different careers in agriculture. They discussed their backgrounds, networks, education and more and gave an honest insight into a career in the food and fibre industry. Qld Farmer's Federation

The Queensland Farmer’s Federation’s Rural Jobs and Skills Alliance has worked closely with Queensland’s diverse agricultural industries to produce the ‘Your Career in Agriculture’ video and provide a snapshot of the career possibilities in agriculture.

RJSA

For National Science Week, QFF’s RJSA also created a video explaining how STEM can make a difference in agriculture.

 

Art 4 Agriculture

Australian Chicken Meat Industry

NSW Dept of Primary Industries

The NSW Department of Primary Industries also have a growing number of videos in their ‘Careers in Primary Industries’ youtube playlist.

The Crawford Fund

The Crawford Fund and the Graham Centre for Agricultural Innovation have released a video which features Dr Deirdre Lemerle interviewing Stephen Lang, a volunteer soil agronomist working in Laos as part of the RAID Network NextGen Program.
